Weather and time
This camera looks west from the landward edge of Gaomei Wetland in Qingshui District, Taichung, over tidal flats and a winding boardwalk. A row of wind turbines stands on the low strip of land across the water.
Gaomei Wetland lies south of the Dajia River mouth on the Taiwan Strait coast and is protected as the Gaomei Wildlife Refuge, set up in 2004. Its mudflats and salt marsh are an important habitat for birds, with more than 120 species recorded. The tide changes the view, so the flats can show wet mud, green marsh grass or open water.
The wide view includes a small park with palms, red-railed paths and a covered pavilion beside the stairs down to the boardwalk. At some times of day the camera zooms in on the boardwalk and the water, then returns to the wide view. Facing west, it shows the sun setting over the turbines.
