Getterön Nature Reserve, Varberg Live Cam

This webcam at the Getterön naturum visitor centre in Varberg overlooks a shallow bay of the Getterön Nature Reserve. Open water, reed beds and wooden posts fill the foreground, with shore meadows and woodland beyond.

The reserve lies about 2 km north of central Varberg on the Halland coast. It was established in 1970, is a Natura 2000 site and is on the Ramsar list of wetlands of international importance. A pond with small islands was built here for nesting birds, and the pied avocet is the symbol of the reserve.

The camera does not keep a single fixed view. Its frames range from wide scenes of the bay with reed islands to a closer look at the shallow shoreline, where ducks swim near the water's edge and larger birds rest on the wooden posts.
