Plaza Europa Girona, Spain Live Cam

Plaça d'Europa is a square of pines and benches in the middle of Platja d'Aro, on the Costa Brava in Catalonia. The webcam looks across it at the shops and flats.

The coast took its name from a newspaper competition. A journalist coined Costa Brava, the rugged coast, in 1908 for the stretch of cliffs and coves running north from here to the French border, and the name stuck to the whole of it.

The town is modern and the castle it is named after is not: Castell d'Aro, a village with a mediaeval keep, sits a couple of kilometres inland, and the two are one municipality.
