El Frontón Gáldar, G. C. Live Cam

El Frontón is a reef break under the cliffs at Gáldar, on the north coast of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. The camera looks down on the wave from the headland.

The wave breaks over volcanic rock in shallow water and throws a heavy, hollow barrel, which has made it one of the best-known bodyboarding spots anywhere; a world tour event has been run here repeatedly.

Gáldar was the seat of the guanartemes, the rulers of this half of the island before the Castilian conquest. A painted cave under the town, decorated in red, white and black geometric patterns, is the best-preserved thing they left.
