Puerto Rico Marina, Gran Canaria Live Cam

Puerto Rico fills a dry ravine on the south-west coast of Gran Canaria, with a marina and a beach set between two moles. The webcam looks down on both from a hotel on the slope above.

The beach was made rather than found. When the resort was laid out from the mid-1960s, sand was brought in and held in place by the breakwaters, and the apartment blocks were stacked up the sides of the valley behind it.

The slopes are bare because the island's central massif takes the trade-wind rain and leaves the south in its shadow, which is also what the resort was built to sell. Boats work out of the marina for fishing charters and along the coast to Arguineguín and Mogán.
