Weather and time
This view from Zochova Street in Bratislava's Old Town looks south to the northern side of Bratislava Castle on its hill. Red-tiled roofs fill the foreground, and the spire of Saint Martin's Cathedral rises on the left.
The castle, a massive rectangular building with four corner towers on a rocky hill above the Danube, is the best-known landmark of the Slovak capital. A fire in 1811 left it in ruins until restoration began in 1957. Since 1968 it has housed exhibitions of the Slovak National Museum, and the cathedral below was the coronation church of Hungarian kings.
Most pictures of the castle show it from the Danube, while this camera faces the hill from the streets of the Old Town. The castle sits low in the frame, so the sky above it fills most of the picture.
