Zilvermeeuw Egmond aan Zee Live Cam

A beach pavilion at Egmond aan Zee looks out over the North Sea, on the coast of North Holland in the Netherlands. The camera covers the sand and the water in front of it.

The village used to stand further west. The sea took the church and a third of the houses through the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and what is here now was rebuilt behind the dune line after that.

The lighthouse above the village is named after Jan van Speijk, a naval officer from the place who blew up his own gunboat rather than surrender it in 1831. The dunes behind are a water catchment and nature reserve.
