Oma Fishing Port, Japan Live Cam

Small boats lie drawn up on the concrete slope at Oma fishing port, at the northern tip of Honshu in Japan. Sheds and a light tower stand along the far side of the basin.

Work here starts before dawn and the quay is quiet by the middle of the day, which is what the live picture usually shows. The camera pans around the basin and takes in the breakwater and the moored boats in turn.

Oma is known for tuna: crews take bluefin one at a time on hand line in the Tsugaru Strait, and fish landed here regularly set the record price at the first Tokyo auction of the year. Hokkaido shows across the strait on a clear day.
