National Route 228, Kaminokuni Live Cam

This wide view in central Kaminokuni, southwestern Hokkaido, looks over a paved yard with a round fountain basin to National Route 228. Across the road stand a convenience store and two-storey houses, with the edge of the Odome roundabout on the right.

Kaminokuni is a small town on the Sea of Japan side of the Oshima Peninsula. Odome is its central district, with the town hall and post office a few hundred metres away. Route 228 links it with Esashi to the north and Matsumae to the south. The ruins of Katsuyamadate, a late 15th-century stronghold on a hill near the coast, are part of a National Historic Site.

This is the wider of two views from the same spot, taking in more of Route 228 and the cars heading towards Esashi or into the roundabout. Dry fields and wooded hills stretch inland beyond the houses.
