Weather and time

The webcam looks over San Candido in Val Pusteria from a hillside meadow above the town, with the houses spread across the valley floor. On the right, a jagged rocky ridge of the Sesto Dolomites rises above the forested slope, and Monte Baranci belongs to it.

San Candido, called Innichen in German, lies at 1,175 metres in the Puster Valley in South Tyrol. Place names here are bilingual, so the peak south of the town appears on maps as Rocca dei Baranci and as Haunold. A railway line crosses the valley below the houses, and Innichen station is one of the border stations between Italy and Austria.

The camera is fixed and keeps the same framing: the town on the left and in the centre, the rocky ridge in the upper right, and a stand of spruce and a country road in the foreground. The light moves across the forested slope and the rock walls.
