Weather and time
This camera overlooks the harbour of Binic in Brittany, where hundreds of masts crowd the marina beside a quayside road. Stone townhouses line the left of the frame and a green headland closes the view on the right.
Binic is a small harbour town on the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, now part of Binic-Étables-sur-Mer. The port began as a cod-fishing harbour that sent ships to Newfoundland and later Iceland, and today it works mainly as a marina. It is made up of an outer harbour and a floating basin entered through a tidal gate, with about 350 berths.
The view is fixed and taken from a raised vantage point above the road, so the roundabout and parked cars are in the foreground and the boats stretch away toward the harbour mouth. The water in the outer harbour rises and falls with the tide, which changes how much quay and slipway is visible.
