Weather and time
Fresh snow covers the hamlet of Combettes, on the slope below the Arc 1600 resort above Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Old stone chalets with slate roofs stand along the track, with larches and spruce behind them.
Les Arcs is built at four levels on the mountainside, from 1600 to 2000 metres, in the Tarentaise valley of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The resort connects to La Plagne by the Vanoise Express cable car, forming the Paradiski area.
Arc 1600 was the first of the four to open, in 1968, and a funicular links it directly to the railway station in the valley. Snow cover at this altitude usually holds from December into April, and the webcam shows the hamlet under it for most of that time.
