Weather and time
This camera looks into a white stork nest on top of a chimney in Žichlínek, a village near Lanškroun in the Czech Pardubice Region. Behind the broad platform of sticks stands a pale plastered wall with a dark wooden door.
Žichlínek lies about two kilometres southeast of Lanškroun and has close to a thousand inhabitants. The village was first recorded in 1304, and the Moravská Sázava river flows through it. A camera has followed the storks on this chimney since 2017.
The lens looks slightly down from close range, so the nest fills most of the frame, while the right-hand part of the picture is covered by a white panel added at the request of the municipality for privacy. In recent years the first stork has returned from Africa in the second half of March; from late summer until then the nest usually stands empty.
