Weather and time

The dingo enclosure at Lone Pine sanctuary is a fenced run of sand, rock and scrub outside Brisbane, in Queensland. The camera covers about half of it.

Dingoes reached Australia three to five thousand years ago, most likely by boat with seafarers from island south-east Asia, and spread over the mainland but never got to Tasmania. They bark very little and howl instead.

A fence built to keep them out of the sheep country in the south-east runs more than five thousand kilometres, the longest in the world. Lone Pine opened in 1927 and is the oldest koala sanctuary anywhere.
