Tampa Bay Florida Traffic Cams Live

This feed cycles between highway cameras around Tampa Bay, on the west coast of Florida, and the bridges across it. The Skyway, the Howard Frankland and the Courtney Campbell causeway all appear in turn.

The Skyway carries a hard lesson in its design. A freighter hit a pier of the old bridge in a squall in May 1980 and brought down a third of a kilometre of deck along with a bus and several cars; the replacement stands on concrete islands built to take the blow instead.

The bay is shallow, in places only a couple of metres, so the causeways sit low and the shipping is confined to dredged channels. Tampa, St Petersburg and Clearwater are separate cities, and the crossings between them are what makes the traffic.
