Downtown Airport Missouri, USA Live Cam

Downtown Airport is a single-runway field on the eastern side of Springfield, Missouri, with light aircraft parked along the apron. The camera looks across the ramp towards the runway.

The field is privately owned and open to the public, a common arrangement in the American Midwest that keeps a lot of small aerodromes alive. Traffic is mostly training flights, business turboprops and the occasional jet.

Springfield has a place in road history: the number 66 was settled on for the Chicago to Los Angeles highway in a hotel here in April 1926 and telegraphed to Washington the same day. The city still sits at the junction of the routes that replaced it.
