The camera looks at a group of bird feeders on a family farm near Mountain View, Missouri, with a pond and woods behind. A red platform tray of mixed seed and peanuts fills the foreground, and tube, hopper and suet cage feeders hang above it.

Mountain View is a small city in northeastern Howell County, in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. US Route 60 runs through the town, about 13 miles east of Willow Springs. The farm lies just outside it, among the wooded hills, pastures and ponds typical of this part of the Ozarks.

The view is fixed and close to the feeders, so birds landing on the tray appear large in the frame. Behind the feeding post a grassy bank runs down to the pond, which mirrors the sky, and tall deciduous trees close the scene on the right. Mourning doves often settle on the tray.
