Penguins, Moody Gardens Aquarium Pyramid Live Cam

This webcam looks over the penguin habitat inside the Aquarium Pyramid at Moody Gardens on Galveston Island, Texas. King penguins gather on a flat ledge beside a pool, while smaller crested rockhoppers move between the rocks and the water.

Moody Gardens is a non-profit educational park, and its Aquarium Pyramid holds one of the largest aquariums in the Southwest. The 1.5-million-gallon aquarium is arranged by ocean regions, from the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean to the Pacific and the South Atlantic. The penguins live in the South Atlantic habitat, home to king, gentoo, chinstrap, rockhopper and macaroni penguins.

The fixed camera faces the main ledge from across the pool, keeping most of the colony in view. Swimming birds appear as dark shapes under the surface, and keepers with buckets sometimes kneel among the penguins at feeding time.
