Weather and time
Two Union Pacific lines cross at a diamond beside West Street in Houston, Texas, with the downtown skyline rising behind the tracks. A crossing signal on the left and a graffiti-painted equipment cabin on the right frame the foreground.
Tower 26 was the signal tower that once controlled this junction of the West Belt Sub and the Houston Sub. The first tower opened in 1903, the later one was rebuilt in 1959, and it was taken out of service in 2001. Today the crossing runs on signals under Union Pacific ownership, and BNSF, CPKC and Amtrak trains use the tracks as well. The site lies in Houston's Fifth Ward.
The camera changes its view from time to time. Most often it looks along the tracks toward the skyline; at sunset it has been seen in a wider frame under a colorful sky, and at other times it turns to a curve of the line running between trees.
