Grant Tower Junction, Salt Lake City Live Cam

This fixed camera on the Utah Arts Alliance campus looks south along the Union Pacific tracks just west of downtown Salt Lake City. Switches and signal masts line the rails up to a street crossing, with a Utah Transit Authority building on the right.

The tracks belong to the Grant Tower interlocking, where three Union Pacific subdivisions meet beside the FrontRunner commuter line. The junction once linked the Union Pacific, the Denver & Rio Grande Western and the Western Pacific, and its control tower stood from 1950 until 2018. Freight trains, FrontRunner trains and Amtrak's California Zephyr still use the route.

The framing stays the same through the day. A paved lot behind a fence fills the left foreground, a road overpass rises in the distance on the left, and mountain ridges line the horizon.
