Moonbeam is the main base area of Solitude in Big Cottonwood Canyon, in the Wasatch Range east of Salt Lake City. Moonbeam Express is a detachable quad chairlift that starts a few steps from the lodge and carries riders from the base up to the lower slopes of the resort.

The view stays fixed on the loading area: a gravel yard in front of the terminal, a stone retaining wall, a white steel maze railing and wooded slopes behind, with the shingled wall of the lodge at the right edge. In the ski season this yard is where riders line up for the chairs.
