Fairport Train Viewing Platform, New York Live Cam

A fixed camera on the Fairport Train Viewing Platform in New York looks west along a wide bed of CSX tracks. A tall brick smokestack rises above the village rooftops in the distance.

Fairport is a village on the Erie Canal east of Rochester, and the platform stands at the junction of CSX's Rochester and West Shore Subdivisions, near milepost 361 of the Rochester Subdivision. The busy line carries CSX freight and Amtrak passenger trains, with occasional Canadian National trains. The platform was built by the village as a place to watch the traffic.

The view does not move. Three or four tracks fan out across the gravel ballast in the foreground, with a light pole and tall trees on the left and a long low building with blue roll-up doors on the right. The line runs straight toward the smokestack and the treelines beyond.
