Downtown Hamilton, Alabama Live Cam

Downtown Hamilton meets at First Avenue and First Street, a brick-paved crossing set with bollards in northwest Alabama. The webcam is fixed to a sporting goods shop on the corner and looks over the intersection.

Hamilton is the seat of Marion County, in the valley of the Buttahatchee River near the Mississippi line. The pavement, planters and lighting in the picture came from a downtown reconstruction that pushed the kerbs out and narrowed the traffic lanes.

A ticker runs along the bottom of the frame carrying advertisements for local businesses, which is how the installation pays for itself. Traffic through the crossing is light enough that the surface pattern is usually visible.
