Colfax Depot, California Live Cam

Several Union Pacific tracks fan out beside the Colfax depot, with the yard receding toward a wall of pines and broadleaf trees. A black iron fence along the platform edge cuts across the lower left, and switch tracks curve away behind it.

Colfax sits in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Placer County, on the historic Overland Route that Union Pacific now runs as its Roseville Subdivision, here at milepost 141.9. BNSF trains use the line under trackage rights, and Amtrak’s California Zephyr calls at the depot as trains 5 westbound and 6 eastbound. The depot also houses a local history museum.

The view looks down the yard from the platform side, so passing trains fill the near tracks, from container freights to Amtrak’s double-deck cars. The framing stays on this stretch of yard.
