Weather and time
This camera looks over the sandy beach at Poppit Sands in northern Pembrokeshire, with marram-grass dunes at the right of the frame. Cardigan Island sits low on the horizon beyond the breaking waves.
Poppit Sands lies on the southern side of the Teifi estuary, where the river meets Cardigan Bay, and the nearest village is St Dogmaels. Across the estuary the Ceredigion coast runs towards Gwbert, and the uninhabited Cardigan Island lies about 3 km north-north-east of the camera point.
The view is fixed and shows a broad stretch of flat sand running down to the surf. Depending on the tide, the surf line sits closer to or farther from the dunes, and walkers with dogs often cross the sand. A white mast with a guy wire stands in the left part of the frame.
