Weather and time
A close fixed view into the open peregrine falcon nest box on the 12th floor of County Hall in the centre of Aylesbury. The box floor is covered with feathers and nesting debris, and its back wall is streaked with droppings.
County Hall, the Buckinghamshire Council office tower, stands well above the rest of Aylesbury town centre, and a pair of peregrines has nested on it for more than a decade. The female is larger and greyer than the male. Peregrines catch other birds in flight, and the feathers piled on the box floor are largely the remains of their prey.
This camera sits closer than the other one on the same nest and looks straight into the wooden box. The roofed top of the box is at the upper edge, and a metal brace crosses the left foreground. To the right lie a flat roof and, at the top edge, a glazed stairwell of a neighbouring building.
