Weather and time
This camera watches the narrow walkway behind the tower parapet of Trinity Church in Ossett, where a nesting tray for peregrine falcons stands. Beyond the moss-covered parapet, the view opens over red-brick terraced streets, the cemetery beside the church and fields reaching the horizon.
Ossett is a town of about 22,000 people between Dewsbury, Horbury and Wakefield. It grew on the shoddy trade, which recycled old woollen cloth, and on coal mining. Trinity Church, consecrated in 1865 and now Grade II* listed, has a spire visible for miles around.
The wide-angle lens looks along the inside of the parapet, past a small camera housing, to the flat walkway and the stone base of the spire on the right. The dark roof and gravel of the nesting tray sit in the lower right corner, while a second camera looks into the tray itself.
