Tamsui Ferry Pier, New Taipei Live Cam

The ferry pier at Tamsui lies below this webcam, where the river meets the sea at the northern edge of New Taipei in Taiwan. A ferry lies at the landing under a white canopy, people wait on the wet quay with umbrellas, and the far bank runs into cloud.

Ferries cross from here to Bali on the opposite bank and downriver to Fisherman's Wharf. Tamsui was the main port of northern Taiwan in the nineteenth century, and the old street behind the pier is now the busiest thing in the town.

Sunset over the river mouth is what draws the crowds, and the promenade fills in the late afternoon. Northeast monsoon rain settles over this coast for weeks in winter.
