Weather and time
Rued Castle stands on a wooded hilltop above Schlossrued in the Swiss canton of Aargau, seen across a meadow from the village school. The upper floors of the white manor house and its tall hipped roof rise above the trees.
Schlossrued lies in the lower Ruedertal, a farming valley whose Ruederchen stream flows into the Suhre at Schöftland. The village is named after the castle. After a fire destroyed the medieval castle in 1775, the present house was built in 1792–1796 for the May family, Bernese patricians who held the lordship from 1520. It is privately owned and now serves as a hotel.
The camera looks north-east from the primary school up the open slope to the castle, about 200 metres away. From the valley floor the house stands out against the sky, and a caption in the lower left corner shows the date, time and air temperature.
