Place de la Palud, Lausanne Live Cam

Place de la Palud is the oldest square in Lausanne, below the cathedral hill in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. The webcam looks over the market stalls and the town hall.

The fountain in the middle carries a painted figure of Justice from 1585, holding scales over four figures meant to be the powers she stands above. A market fills the square on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

The city is built on three hills with ravines between them, which is why the metro that climbs through it is the steepest full-size underground railway anywhere and the only one in the country.
