Riaño and Pico Yordas Live Cam

This view from Riaño in the province of León shows the pointed limestone summit of Pico Yordas rising above the town's rooftops. On the left, a jagged grey ridge with wooded lower slopes fills the horizon behind a timber shelter and a line of poplars.

Riaño lies at about 1,130 metres in the Cantabrian Mountains, within the Montaña de Riaño y Mampodre Regional Park. The present town was built on higher ground after the old village was flooded by the Riaño reservoir on the Esla River in 1987. Pico Yordas, also called Burín on its northern side, reaches roughly 1,960 metres.

From this fixed spot at the edge of town, the church bell tower and a row of red-roofed buildings sit on a rise directly beneath Yordas. Bare rock on both massifs stands out above the band of trees, and the gap between them shows the depth of the valley.
