Benidorm Beach Live Cam

Benidorm curves along the Mediterranean in the province of Alicante in Spain, backed by a wall of towers. The webcam looks along Levante beach from the point at one end.

The skyline is the result of one decision. The mayor pushed through a plan in 1956 that allowed height in exchange for open space around each building, and the result is a resort with more high-rises per resident than almost anywhere and no sprawl behind it.

The same mayor rode a Vespa to Madrid in 1959 to get the ban on two-piece swimming costumes lifted for his town. The peak inland is Puig Campana, with a notch in its ridge that has its own legend.
