Weather and time
This camera above Praia do Castelo in Costa da Caparica looks down over a wide belt of dunes to a long sandy beach and the Atlantic surf. Pine tops sometimes frame the shot, and small beach buildings sit among the dunes.
Costa da Caparica lies in the municipality of Almada, on the south side of the Tagus estuary. South of the town the beaches are backed by the Arriba Fóssil, an old sea cliff about 70 metres high that runs for more than 13 kilometres along the coast and has been part of a protected landscape since 1984. Praia do Castelo lies on this stretch, between the town and Fonte da Telha.
From the cliff top, the waves are seen breaking in several lines before the beach. The view moves between dunes crossed by a wooden boardwalk with a blue-roofed beach building, a closer look at the surf line, and pine tops in front of red-roofed houses.
