Princess Juliana Airport Runway, Maho Beach Live Cam

This view from Maho Beach follows aircraft over the runway of Princess Juliana International Airport on the Dutch side of Saint Martin. Between flights it rests on the runway, palm trees and the green hills that rise behind the airport.

The airport has a single runway, 10/28, which is 2,300 meters long. It began as a United States military airstrip in 1942 and was later named after Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. Aircraft landing on Runway 10 cross Maho Beach at a very low height, which draws plane spotters to the sand.

The camera turns automatically to follow tracked aircraft, from turboprops on approach to jets taxiing along the runway. An on-screen panel shows the registration, type, airline, route and altitude of each plane. Wider views take in the rocky shore, the sea and the flags in front of the beach café that hosts it.
