Weather and time
This camera looks southeast from a high-rise in Ariake, Tokyo, across the bay to the twin steel trusses of the Tokyo Gate Bridge. In the foreground the Bayshore Route of the Shuto Expressway passes in front of warehouses and car showrooms.
Opened in 2012, the Tokyo Gate Bridge runs for 2,618 metres between the reclaimed islands of Wakasu and the Central Breakwater. Its two truss sections seem to face each other, which earned it the nickname Dinosaur Bridge. The bridge is tall enough for large ships to pass beneath, yet low enough to stay clear of the flight paths into Haneda Airport.
Between the shore and the bridge, breakwaters and red crane rigs mark the working waters of the port, and white storage tanks stand on the left. To the right, open lots reach the water's edge. After dark the bridge shows as a thin line of lights over the water.
