Weather and time
This camera looks northwest from Sunagawa in central Hokkaido across the Ishikari Plain toward the forested Shokanbetsu Mountains. Rooftops, a utility pole and tall trees fill the foreground, with a wide band of open sky above the hills.
Sunagawa is a small city in Sorachi Subprefecture on the east bank of the Ishikari River. The Shokanbetsu Mountains form the volcanic northern part of the Mashike Mountains, which run along the western coast of Hokkaido. Their highest summit, Mount Shokanbetsu, rises to 1,492 metres and is also known as Mashike Fuji.
Instead of one peak up close, the camera takes in the range as it appears from the plain: darker wooded ridges in front and paler, more distant summits behind them on the right. Fields with scattered farm buildings lie between the town and the hills.
