Fontana Square Live Cam

Piazza Fontana is a small square in the older part of Lignano Sabbiadoro, on the Adriatic coast of north-east Italy. The webcam looks across the paving and the cafes.

Lignano is three towns in a row on one peninsula, built at different times and to different plans: the old fishing settlement at Sabbiadoro, the spiral streets of Pineta from the 1950s and the newer Riviera at the far end.

The whole peninsula was sand and pine and almost nobody lived on it before the twentieth century. The lagoon behind it, cut off from the sea by this spit, is a fishing and birding ground and part of a regional reserve.
