Lignano Sabbiadoro Beach Live Cam

Lignano Sabbiadoro occupies the tip of a sandy peninsula on the Adriatic, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the north-east of Italy. The webcam looks along the main beach.

Eight kilometres of sand face south-east here, backed by pine planted to hold the dune. Hemingway came for the shooting in the 1950s and called the place an Italian Florida, which the town has been quoting ever since.

The middle section, Lignano Pineta, was laid out in 1953 to a plan by the architect Marcello D'Olivo: a single road spiralling in on itself through the pines, with the houses hung off it, and no grid anywhere.
