Biella, Italy Live Cam

Biella lies in the foothills of the Alps in northern Piedmont, with its old upper town on a shelf above the centre. The camera looks across the roofs towards the Piazzo.

This is the wool town of Italy. Zegna, Loro Piana and Cerruti all began here, and the reason is the water: what comes off these mountains runs soft and free of lime, which matters for washing and dyeing fleece.

A funicular from 1885 climbs to the Piazzo, which is quicker than the road up. The sanctuary at Oropa, in the valley behind, is one of the sacred mountains of Piedmont and Lombardy on the UNESCO list.
