Rødbyhavn, Denmark Live Cam

Rødbyhavn on Lolland is the Danish end of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel, and the camera looks out at the work from the shore. Barges, rock armour and excavators are pushing the site out into the sea.

The tunnel is being immersed rather than bored: 89 concrete elements, each 217 metres long, are cast in a factory built for the job beside this shore, floated out and lowered into a trench dredged across the belt.

At about eighteen kilometres it will be the longest immersed tunnel anywhere, carrying a motorway and a railway to Fehmarn on the German side. It is due to open at the end of the decade and will take a couple of hours off the run between Copenhagen and Hamburg.
