A cable tow drags wakeboarders round a circuit on Ringkøbing Fjord at Hvide Sande, on the Danish west coast. The camera looks over the launch pontoon and the water.

There is no boat involved. An overhead cable running between towers pulls the riders round a fixed loop, which is quieter and cheaper than towing and works in water a metre deep, and this lagoon is barely deeper than that anywhere.

The turbines on the horizon stand along the isthmus. Wind is the constant here: it is why the lagoon is a windsurfing water, why the turbines are there, and why the sand that gives the town its name keeps moving.
