Sluice Fishing Pier, Hvide Sande Live Cam

This camera looks across the water on the North Sea side of the Hvide Sande drainage sluice, at a floating fishing pier. Anglers often fish from the pontoon, and the long arched sluice with a road on top spans the water beyond it.

The Hvide Sande sluice, built in 1929-1931, regulates the water level of Ringkøbing Fjord and lets the fjord drain into the North Sea. It has 14 gated openings and is about 120 m long, and a separate lock chamber for boats lies nearby. An anglers' centre stands on the nearby Nordhavnskaj quay.

The view is fixed: the pontoon crosses the middle of the frame, with a rocky bank and a gravel path in front and the far shore along the horizon. The sluice arches run along the left side, and a tall building and harbour roofs stand beyond them. In sunny weather the midday sun glitters on the water at the right side.
