Georgia Strait Live Cam

The Strait of Georgia opens out below this view from a resort at Parksville, on the east coast of Vancouver Island. At low tide the sand flats reach far out from the shore, and a wooded point stands against the sunset on the right.

Parksville Bay drains almost a kilometre at low water, leaving warm shallow pools on the flats — the reason the beach here has been a family destination for generations. The strait beyond separates the island from the mainland coast of British Columbia.

The tide sets the whole picture: bare sand for hours, then water back up to the treeline. The sun goes down over the mainland mountains straight ahead of the camera.
