Peregrine Falcon Nest Ledge, Ghent Live Cam

The camera looks along the roof edge beside a peregrine falcon nest box on the Virginie Lovelinggebouw in Ghent. The frame shows a flat gravel roof, a metal grating platform and the pebble floor of the box at the right edge.

Seen from this height, the upper left of the frame opens onto a large flat-roofed building, a crane and the streets of the neighbouring district. The office block is in Rijsenbergwijk, near Koningin Maria Hendrikaplein, and the high roof gives the falcons a wide outlook over the city, much like a cliff ledge.

Here the picture is the exterior one, with the ledge and the entrance side of the box, while the second camera on this building watches the inside. Falcons can be seen only when they land on the roof or stand at the box, and outside the March to June breeding season the ledge can stand empty.
