Sydney Harbour opens out below this camera at Balmain East, looking west across the water in New South Wales. The city towers stand on the far side.

The white cable-stayed bridge in the view is the Anzac Bridge, opened in 1995 with the longest span of its type in the country at the time. Behind it, the Barangaroo towers stand on what was a container terminal until the 1990s.

The harbour is a drowned river valley, which is why it has so many arms and so much shoreline: about 240 kilometres of it inside the heads, for a body of water that is only twenty kilometres long.
