Historic Thompson Park, New York Live Cam

Thompson Park sits on a hill above Watertown, in the north country of New York state near the Canadian border. The webcam looks at the memorial in the middle of it.

The monument honours the Tenth Mountain Division, the army's specialist mountain infantry, which is based at Fort Drum a few kilometres away and has been the largest employer in this corner of the state for decades.

The park was laid out at the turn of the last century by the firm that designed Central Park. Watertown gets among the heaviest snow of any American city, several metres a year off Lake Ontario, which the park absorbs without much complaint.
