Red Panda Nest Box, Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo Live Cam

This camera looks into the indoor nest box of the red pandas at Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo in Millbrook, New York, in grey infrared light. The floor is a bed of planks covered with straw.

Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo was established in 1936 on the campus of Millbrook School in Dutchess County and is accredited by the AZA. It keeps two red pandas, one of eleven endangered species held at the zoo. Red pandas come from the mountain forests of the Himalayas and southwestern China.

The fixed camera sits above the box and sees its whole floor and back corner, with straw heaped along the right side. During the day the box is often empty, with only the straw bed in view, while at night the two pandas sometimes sleep here curled up together. The pandas also use an outdoor habitat at the zoo.
