I-75, Dry Ridge Live Cam

Interstate 75 runs past Dry Ridge in northern Kentucky, and the camera looks down on it from an overbridge. The town is about forty kilometres south of Cincinnati.

The name is literal. The ridge here carries no surface water, and the old road along it, first a buffalo trace and then a turnpike, was known as a dry stretch between the Licking and the Kentucky rivers where travellers had to carry their own.

The interstate follows the same high ground, which is why it runs so straight through country that is otherwise all hollows and creeks. It goes from Miami to the Canadian border at Sault Ste Marie, and this section carries the freight between Cincinnati and Lexington.
