Weather and time
Looking west from the Gallup depot platform, the camera sees several BNSF tracks, a freight yard with warehouse roofs and an elevated roadway. A black iron fence on the brick platform and a station sign stand in the foreground.
The platform belongs to the historic Santa Fe depot, finished in 1918 and now the Gallup Cultural Center. Amtrak's Southwest Chief stops here on its Los Angeles to Chicago run, trains 3 and 4, while BNSF freight uses the Gallup Subdivision at milepost 157.5. A rocky mesa dotted with houses rises on the right side of the frame.
This is the yard side of the platform. Trains heading west run away from the lens along the left side of the picture, and eastbound ones arrive from there. The east-facing camera on the same platform sees the opposite direction.
