Gallup Rail Line East View, New Mexico Live Cam

Facing east from the Gallup depot platform, the camera points down the BNSF tracks toward a hillside of townhouses and sandstone outcrops. A utility pole and a small equipment cabinet by the fence stand at the right of the frame.

Gallup is an old railroad town, and the stretch in front of the lens is the BNSF Gallup Subdivision at milepost 157.5. Amtrak's Southwest Chief calls at this platform, while freight rolls past on the neighbouring tracks, and red rock breaks through the slope above the trees along the far fence.

The camera does not move, so the picture changes only with the light on the hillside and with the container and hopper trains that pass in front of the black iron fence.
